It started with a misunderstanding
Helemid was not born from a plan. It was born because people got something wrong, and Diletta decided not to correct them.
Diletta
Diletta is from the province of Naples. After a science high school she tries a university course that does not convince her and starts again: at twenty-one she enrols in Design and Fashion, and graduates in the shortest time possible with top marks. Before her thesis she is already working as a swimwear pattern maker for some of the biggest companies in the area.
The collaborations grow, then the pandemic arrives. While everything stops, she opens Attelid: a design and production company making swimwear for other brands. Patterns, samples, small runs.
That is where the unexpected happens. Promoting Attelid on social media, Diletta notices that people think she makes swimwear to measure, and start asking for it. She could have explained that no, she worked for companies. She chose to listen.
Attelid became a made-to-measure swimwear brand with a name of its own: Helemid. Today every piece is made in the same workshop where Diletta used to make patterns for others, in limited runs, and to the measurements of whoever asks.
Real success is not only creating. It is knowing how to listen.
The workshop
Where it is cut, sewn and tried on
A cutting table, rolls of lycra and linen, the dress form, the crochet hook. There is no warehouse: there is the piece someone has ordered, in the making. That is why the times are what they are, and why you will not meet a Helemid swimsuit on someone else.
